UPDATE: Since the publication of this article,  the Alaska Department of Public Safety has released information that the most likely explanation for the disappearance of 86-year-old Mary Jo Evans is that she was deceased at the scene of the fire. Compelling evidence includes the confirmation that one of the cars damaged in the parking lot belonged to Evans.  Evans was believed to be driving between Anchorage and Valdez when she disappeared. The article below makes numerous definitive statements that no one was harmed in the fire. It would have been more appropriate to make statements indicating that no harm was reported according to early reports. more
