School Board to Fill Vacancy From Resignation

Glennallen, AK -- The Copper River School District Board of Education is recruiting applicants seeking to be appointed to the Board for Section l, Seat B, due to the resignation of a Board member. 

This seat will be appointed at the January 2026 School Board Meeting for a one-year, nine-month term expiring in October 2027.

Those interested in the position must be a resident of Section l, which includes the areas of Chisana, Chistochina, Gakona, Glennallen, Gulkana, Nebesna, Nelchina/Mendeltna, Paxson, Slana, and Tolsona. Candidates are required to submit a one-page letter of intent listing why they wish to serve on the Board and their qualifications.

To be considered for appointment, please send the aforementioned letter to the School Board Administrative Assistant, Naomi Stickney, Copper River School District, P.O. Box 108, Glennallen, AK 99588, by December 22, 4 p.m. Letters may be submitted electronically by emailing Naomi Stickney at nstickney@crsd.us.

Candidates will be interviewed during the January regular Board meeting. The Board will also hear public comments on the applicants. Following interviews and public comments, the Board will go into an Executive Session to discuss the applicants. After deliberations, the Board will return to the regular meeting and will vote to appoint the provisional Seat B Board member and swear them in.
