Ray and Stephanie Voley shared the adventures from their 2005-mile hike along the Pacific Crest Trail (PCT) at the Kenny Lake Library on Wednesday, October 26. About 15 people attended their slideshow and ultra-light gear demonstration.

The PCT winds its way from Campo, California, and ends at the Canadian border in Manning Park, Washington. The trail moves through seven national parks, and 25 national forests.

The Voleys decided it was important to undertake at least one more grand adventure before old age got in the way. They started out hiking 10 miles a day. By the time they reached Washington, 22-mile days were the norm, with a few 26-mile days.

They survived snow, rain, hail, snakes, bears, 20-mile water carries, the blazing hot Mohave Desert, snowy Sierra passes, treacherous Washington river crossings, and quirky characters.

Ray is working on a video celebrating their adventure. For more information, please follow AKWild1 on Facebook, or AKWild1 on Youtube.
