Queen
A Poem By Mackenzie Dysinger
Sun is a fickle friend.
Though I’ve never been fond of her,
The Queen of the Sky does put on quite the daily entrance.
Arrayed in her golden hues,
I find her quite obnoxious and rude.
She demands all my thoughts,
(never leaving room for others to talk)
and makes my soul stand still.
When she chooses to leave,
she is sure to let the world know
by putting on one of her many (many!) remarkable shows.
Ribbons of colors streak across the sky, as sweet silly
Sun dramatically waves goodbye.
The audacity of such a Queen
—who gives my world its life and breath—
to act as if she was the center of it.
