Living Off the Land: Pen and Ink by Bob Neeley

Bob Neeley on life as an artist:

When other people see this they get inspired to do that. I hung around with other artists, Indian artists and poets when I was younger. We did that because it was the only way we could express ourselves. I remember one girl who was a poet. After her poem was written on the paper she just burned it up. We would talk about current things, what people would say about us in the newspaper. One thing we said - you know AIM [The American Indian Movement] - they said, “You know they put us in a toothpaste now- Aim.” Just to give you an idea of what they were talking about. Indians, artists, talking to each other. There was nowhere else to go.

Tsin'aen Ne’k’eltaeni - Thank God - Bob Neeley says when he was in the Vietnam War, he said, “If I ever come out of this alive I want to thank the Lord for this.”
