The Greater Copper Valley Chamber of Commerce held its May Dinner Meeting in McCarthy on May 26. Approximately 30 chamber members and their spouses, visitor center staff, and other participants attended the dinner meeting at the Salmon and Bear restaurant in McCarthy, and participated in familiarization tours with McCarthy area businesses and Wrangell-St. Elias National Park staff on the two-day excursion.

This was a great opportunity for networking for the many businesses in our area involved in tourism. Many thanks are due to those who helped make this meeting possible, including :Neil Darish (Ma Johnson’s Hotel/Salmon and Bear Restaurant), Nik Merlino (McCarthy River Tours & Outfitters), Copper Valley Air Service, Kennicott Shuttle, LLC, and meeting speaker Julia Hnilicka (Alaska State Director of USDA Rural Development).

Thanks also to the businesses in McCarthy as well as the national park staff who made time available in their day to visit with chamber members during the busy Memorial Day weekend.
