Middle School Volleyball Eases Into Season

The  Glennallen Panthers Middle School Volleyball team had their first travel event of the season in Valdez January 23 and 24.

The event was a scrimmage that Glennallen and Valdez do every year to get the players familiar with volleyball rules, rotation, subbing, and having a ref. Valdez had three teams and we had one team.

Our team consisted of two returning players and five players for whom this would be their first volleyball games. It was nice to be able to play in a slower paced environment for their first game and not at a tournament that can be very go go go and overwhelming.

The Panthers beat the Valdez C team (25-18, 25-11), but lost to the Valdez A (9-25, 8-25) and B (Day 1: 16-25, 18-25, Day 2: 15-25, 16-25) teams.

Overall, the team improved over the weekend. Each player got at least one serve over during the matches. We're looking forward to seeing a lot more improvement throughout the season.

We head to Delta this weekend for our first tournament.
