Guests are encouraged to bring a favorite story or memory of Linda, and any photos they would like to share.
Linda was born on November 21, 1949, and was the second youngest of nine children. From an early age she carried a whimsical spirit, a generous heart, and an adventurous nature that stayed with her throughout her life. She had a deep love of music and would often go to concerts at Haight-Ashbury in San Francisco and followed the Grateful Dead in her younger years.
Linda moved to Alaska in 1979 with her husband, Jack Smith and young daughter Kelly Smith, and quickly made it home. She embraced the Alaskan way of life wholeheartedly, becoming an off-grid homesteader and building a life with a deep love and connection to the outdoors.
Linda was one of the most generous people you could ever meet, the kind of person who would give you the shirt off her back. She made friends everywhere she went and had a gift for making people feel welcome. She loved camping, rock hounding, berry picking, gardening, and all things outdoors. In her younger years she enjoyed mushing her beloved sled dogs, and she was happiest surrounded by Alaska’s beauty. She had a green thumb like no other and could make just about anything grow.
Later in life, Linda found meaningful work providing in-home care through the Alzheimer’s Association. She genuinely loved caring for others and found joy and purpose in helping people through their golden years with kindness, patience, and compassion.
Linda was also a devoted animal lover. She had a special place in her heart for pets and treasured the companionship they brought throughout her life.
Linda will be remembered for her adventurous spirit, caring heart, her generosity, and the many friendships she made along the way. She lived a wild and beautiful Alaskan life and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Linda is survived by her daughter, Kelly Smith, and Kelly’s partner, Jenny Moser; brothers, Johnny Krohn and Tommy Krohn; along with many family members and dear friends whose lives she touched throughout the years.
We hope you’ll join us to share memories, laughter, and stories as we celebrate Linda and the remarkable life she lived.
